BIOGRAPHY
As a long time resident of East Gippsland, Deanne is inspired by the natural beauty of the area, from the magnificent alpine region through to the expansive lake and river system, and extensive coastline.
The rich and varied landscape of the East Gippsland terrain provides an endless source of material for her work. She sets out to capture the landscape, study the forms and lines, and boldly release a version that pays homage to the land.
The majority of Deanne's paintings are of landscapes, featuring iconic local scenery, as well as lesser known locations. The vastness of the land is overlaid with the immense beauty of East Gippsland's indigenous plants, creating an almost iconic image of the local flora.
Deanne's paintings reduce a scene to its most elemental components, using bold colours, fluid lines and strong compositions. This simplified, stylized imagery captures the ethereal qualities of the landscape.
Working with acrylic paint on stretched canvas, Deanne encourages the viewer to become more in touch with the amazing panorama of the landscape and to become enlightened by the fascinating details of the sculptural, architectural forms of the native foliage and flowers that make up the tapestry of this land.
